Long ago beast and man shared one world. Then they began to battle.

After many battles the world was split in two. Beasts were given Beastium. Man was given Earth.

A border-wall was made. It closed the two worlds off.

The beasts tried to get through the border-wall many times. The Border Guards had to stop them. Border Guards were trained to defend the border-wall. Battles won by beasts made beasts stronger. Battles won by guards earned them new battle gear. And they got new upgrades. Then their battle gear could do more.

Five guards now defend the border-wall. Their work is top secret. They battle and learn. One day they will become Border Masters. Just like their dads. But first they must learn and become Border Captains.

Their dads were also Border Guards once. They kept learning until they became Border Masters.

And now they make up the Bordaria Master Command. The BMC. The BMC help the Border Guards during battle. They show them how to defend the wall. They give the Border Guards new battle gear.

The guards must earn their new battle gear. They need to learn from their battles. And from their mistakes.

Kai masters is a Border Captain. He must work with others and win his leader’s badge. Kai must learn more about the beasts. He cannot fail.

The Outlands was a large beast park. The park was closed off from Beastium by a fence and gates. The BMC created the park so they could learn about the beasts.

Border Guards put the mutant beasts inside the park. They didn’t know then that the Outlands was a BMC research park. Now that Kai Masters is a captain he knows. He also knows that the BMC put a computer chip in each beast’s neck. The chip collects data on the beasts.

Kai Masters must use the beast data to learn more about the beasts. He must use what he learns to battle smarter.

Kai Masters was in his lab with BC3. Kai was looking at his computer screen.

‘I’m a Border Captain now, BC,’ Kai said to his robotic dog. ‘Now I need to show the BMC that I’m a good leader. I’m going to try and win my leader’s badge next.’

BC looked at the screen. ‘Like your air and land badges,’ BC said.

‘Yes,’ said Kai. ‘Then I’ll have three badges!’

Kai tapped the keys on the keyboard and waited. ‘I’m going to find out what I have to do to win this badge,’ he said.

A lot of words came onto the screen. ‘It’s a long list of things, BC,’ said Kai. He began to read them. ‘The first thing on the list is teamwork.’

‘We are a good team,’ BC said. ‘Yes, we are,’ Kai said patting BC’s head. ‘Maybe we need to work even better together.’

  Just then Kai’s orbix beeped.

‘It’s a BMC alert,’ said BC. ‘What’s happening?’

  Kai looked at his orb.

‘I’m not sure,’ Kai said. ‘We’ve been called to a control room. Something must be going on in Beastium. But what control room?’

Kai’s orb sounded again. He read the new words on the orb. Then he said to BC, ‘The BMC has opened up a new room in the lighthouse. It’s a Captain’s control room. We have to go there at once.’

There were many secret rooms hidden in the hill where Kai lived. The new control room was one of those rooms.

‘We have to take the lift to the new control room,’ Kai said. ‘It’s on Underground level 3. That’s a new level.’

Kai and BC took the lift down through the transport chamber. Then the lift stopped at the new room.

Kai stepped out of the lift. ‘This is the Captain’s control room,’ he said. ‘Check it out!’

‘Look at those metal doors,’ BC said. ‘What’s behind them?’

Kai walked over to the doors. ‘They’re locked,’ he said. ‘But these computers are on.’

Kai went over to the control desk. ‘Look at all this stuff, BC. There are five computer screens!’

‘Something is coming onto the first screen,’ said BC. ‘Three tails!’

Kai watched as a beast slowly loaded on the screen. ‘It’s the mutant beast, Flamatoraq,’ he said. ‘Oh no. That beast has gotten out from the Outlands, BC,’ Kai said. ‘It’s back in Beastium.’

‘And here comes another beast!’ said BC. ‘It’s loading on screen two! Those feet look like the beast we battled in the volcano land.’

More of the beast came onto the screen. ‘This one has wings and a strange tail,’ Kai said. ‘This beast is a mutant, BC. But not one that we have battled before.’

‘A new mutant beast!’ said BC. ‘Is it in Beastium too?’

Kai watched as more words came onto the screen. ‘Yes, and they’re both in the fire land,’ he said.

Kai looked up the mutant beast on his watch. It was a BMC captain’s watch. Kai used it to learn about the beasts. He could see how much strength they had. He could also see what beast-combos were in each one.

‘This beast was battled in the storm land,’ Kai said.

‘It’s made up of fire, rock and air beasts.’

  ‘Who battled it?’ asked BC.

‘I don’t know,’ said Kai. ‘But we must find out who it was.’

‘Two mutants in the fire land!’ said BC. ‘Too much to handle!’

Kai knew he and BC could not battle two beasts alone. They needed help. He looked at the computer screen. There was a button flashing.

  Kai clicked on the button.

‘We can see other Border Guard files now,’ said Kai.

A list of names came onto the screen. One name was flashing.

‘We need to form a team to battle two beasts,’ said Kai. ‘Let’s see who this Jay Armstrong is.’

Kai clicked on Jay Armstrong. A Border Guard file came onto the screen.

‘This Border Guard has battled the mutant that we haven’t. We need him!’

BC didn’t reply. Kai turned to look at his buddy. BC’s head was tilted to one side. He was staring at the screen. ‘You’re staring at Jay’s battle buddy,’ said Kai with a smile.

‘It’s a hawk,’ said BC. ‘It doesn’t need a jetpack to fly like I do.’

Kai patted BC’s head and then said. ‘Every Border Guard has to have a battle buddy. But you’re the best buddy a Captain could ever have!’

  Then Kai’s orb beeped.

‘You got an upgrade!’ said Kai. ‘Scratch behind your ear.’

BC did and a jetpack popped out onto BC’s back.

‘You can fly too now!’ Kai said. ‘Whenever you want to.’

‘This will be handy in battle,’ BC said.

‘Yes,’ said Kai. ‘This battle could be huge. I’m going to send Jay a battle call right now.’

Kai opened the keypad on his orb and turned on its mini computer. ‘All the Border Guards have been added to my orb already, BC.’

Kai found Jay Armstrong. Then he sent Jay a text message.

‘I’ve told him about the beasts,’ said Kai. ‘And to meet us in the fire land.’

  Kai’s orb sounded again.

‘It’s a text from Jay,’ said Kai. ‘He says he’s going to fly to the fire land in the Jet Tank 500. It holds lots of rocks. He’s also going to bring a Dirt Blaster. He used it when he battled the mutant before.’

  ‘What about us?’ asked BC.

Before Kai could answer he heard a noise behind him.

Kai turned around. ‘Look, BC,’ he said. ‘The metal doors are opening.’

‘It’s a new battle chamber,’ BC said.

  Kai walked into
the chamber. ‘All our gadgets are here, BC,’ he said. ‘And they’ve been upgraded with the new Battle-All-Tool.’

  ‘What’s that?’ asked BC.

‘I made it in the new science lab,’ said Kai. ‘It means that we can now use any gadget in any land. The BAT makes sure we don’t make things worse.’

‘And we won’t make any more mutants,’ said BC. ‘Look! All our rides are on that screen.’

Kai looked at the screen. ‘We can pick our ride here,’ he said to BC. ‘Then it will be waiting for us on the take-off pad in the transport chamber.’

‘Let’s pick our ride first then,’ said BC.

Kai flicked through the rides on the touch screen. He stopped at the Ice Chopper.

‘This was good when we battled this mutant last time,’ said Kai.

‘Yes,’ said BC. Then he raced over to the gadgets. ‘We could take the Sword Ice Striker too.’

Kai joined BC and looked at all the gadgets. ‘I think the battle chains would be better,’ said Kai. ‘We’ll need to tie these beasts up!’

Kai went to take the chains but they wouldn’t come off the wall.

  A computer voice said

‘I guess everything will be in the transport chamber,’ said Kai. ‘Now, let’s go!’

Kai and BC took the lift to the transport chamber.

‘Our ride is ready,’ said Kai. ‘Hop in, BC.’

Kai keyed in the codes for the fire land on his orb. The doors of the chamber slid open. The ice chopper shot out through the chamber’s tunnel.

Kai and BC flew into a red-hot land. ‘This is the fire land,’ said Kai. ‘Look at the temp outside!’

‘I’m going to see if Jay is here yet,’ said Kai.

Kai spoke into his headset mouthpiece. ‘Border Guard Jay Armstrong. Report in for battle. Over. Jay Armstrong. Report in for battle.’

  There was no reply.

  ‘Where is he?’ asked BC.

‘He mustn’t be here yet,’ said Kai.

‘Fireflies are coming,’ said BC, his tail wagging.

  ‘You’re right,’ said Kai.

‘I’ll blast them with the fly spray. It’s a new add-on.’ Kai pushed the fly spray button on the dash. Mist shot out from the front of the jet.

As mist hit each firefly, it dropped away. Kai laughed and said, ‘They’re dropping like flies! Too easy, BC.’

‘Look out,’ said BC. ‘There’s an ash cloud ahead.’

‘We’ll fly below it,’ Kai said. ‘We know this land’s tricks!’

Kai flew the chopper under the ash cloud. ‘We’re far enough away from it now,’ he said. Then Kai saw BC’s tail wagging. ‘What is it now, BC?’ he asked. But before BC could answer, the chopper was hit by a huge gust of wind.

‘It’s a fire and wind attack,’ BC said as the chopper turned over and over.

Kai struggled to get control of the chopper. ‘We’ve been blown back a long way.’

Suddenly something crashed into the side of the jet. ‘It’s burning rocks!’ said Kai.

The rocks came hard and fast. The chopper was being hit again and again.

Kai struggled to keep the chopper steady. ‘I can’t keep the chopper up. We’ll have to fly away.’

‘Open the cockpit,’ called BC. ‘I’ll get them with my lasers.’

Kai opened the cockpit. But before BC could hit the rocks they all began bouncing backwards away from them.

  ‘What’s going on?’ asked Kai.

‘Hello Captain Kai,’ a voice said over the chopper’s speakers. ‘Border Guard Jay Armstrong reporting in for battle. Robohawk has put a force field around you.’

‘That’s why the rocks are bouncing away from us,’ said Kai.

Kai and Jay hovered together. Both were inside their own force field bubbles. The wind began to settle. The burning rocks stopped and the dust cleared.

‘Thanks Jay, good work,’ said Kai. ‘You came just in time. Look down there.’

  ‘Where?’ asked Jay.

‘Below. It’s the two mutants,’ said Kai. ‘And they’re fighting each other.’

Kai looked at the mutant beasts fighting. He used his watch to find out more about it.

‘It has rock in it now, BC,’ Kai said. ‘When we battled it before it was only fire, water and air.’

  ‘Mega-bad,’ said BC.

‘Send Robohawk in to get some photos with its eye-cam,’ Kai said to Jay.

Jay sent the hawk in and Kai waited. Then a card popped up on the dashboard screen.

Kai read the card carefully. ‘It has changed,’ he said.

Another card popped onto the screen.

‘This is the beast Jay battled before,’ said Kai. ‘It’s still only a mutant. If it wins a battle play it will change as well. We need to stop these beasts. We have to catch them and take them to the Outlands.’

‘Flamatoraq has launched a toxic breath attack,’ said BC.

Kai watched as Torlavasaur flapped its wings. ‘It has sent the toxic breath right back at Flamatoraq. And now it’s growing another head! We have to stop them before they change any more. You take Torlavasaur, Jay. BC and I will take the mega-mutant.’

  ‘Going in now,’ said Jay.

‘Out you go, BC,’ said Kai. ‘Pull on the chains at the front of the chopper with your paws. Try and wrap the beast up. I’ll put out its fire with the chopper’s Slushy-Max.’

BC flew out of the chopper. He grabbed the chain-ends and flew towards the beast.

Kai blasted it with water, slushy ice and ice balls all at once.

Kai watched BC fly behind the beast with the chains. Then he looked over at Jay.

He’s catching all the beast’s hot rocks and shooting back ice rocks, he thought. And Robohawk is dropping something on the lava wing tips. Good work!

But it was not enough. Suddenly there was a massive roar.

Kai watched in horror as the two beasts grew. They became almost twice their size. Twice as strong. Massive mega-mutants.

Kai, BC, Jay and Robohawk hovered before the enormous beasts. Then Kai saw BC’s tail wagging. ‘Get ready, Jay,’ said Kai. ‘More trouble ahead.’

‘What kind of trouble now?’ asked Jay.

‘I don’t know,’ said Kai. ‘But BC has a good tail for trouble. And it’s wagging like crazy right now.’

‘Uh-oh,’ said Jay. ‘They’ve found us.’

Everything went still. Then both beasts turned slowly. They now faced Kai and Jay.

‘And they’re both getting ready to launch a double attack! They’re pulling back their wings. It’s a double fire and wind attack!’

The mega-mutant growled and whipped its three tails at Kai and Jay. But it was not fast enough. Kai had seen it and he and Jay dodged the tails just in time. ‘That was a very close call,’ said Jay as they flew away from the beasts.

‘Yes,’ said Kai. ‘To beat these beasts we must work as a team. Robohawk and BC can make bombs to put out fire.’

‘They should keep battling the toxic breath mutant then,’ said Jay.

‘Yes,’ said Kai. ‘And BC can take away its toxic breath with the F-R-T attack.’

‘Then Robohawk will put it in a force field,’ said Jay.

‘It will need to be very weak for the force field to hold it,’ said Kai looking at his watch.

‘It’s too strong right now. When it has no fire and breath it will be much weaker. While the buddies do their battling we can get the other beast. We can blast it with my blue foamer and Slushy-Max.’

‘And my dirt blaster and rock collector,’ said Jay.

‘Yes,’ agreed Kai. ‘We can do it in turns. Then when the beast is weak enough I’ll use the chains to wrap it up. Let’s do it. Battle team go!’

  ‘Moving in now,’ said Jay.

Robohawk and BC flew above the triple-tailed beast. They attacked its fire head with bird poo and F-R-T attack.

‘It worked,’ said BC. ‘The fire is out. Now for the toxic breath.’

  Meanwhi
le Kai and Jay took turns blasting the other mutant. ‘It’s working,’ said Jay.

‘One arm is down but the other one is still firing,’ called Kai. ‘And it’s pulling its wings back for another fire and wind attack. Watch out!’

All of a sudden bombs of F-R-T and bird poo went off under the beast’s wings.

  The beast fell backwards.

‘Blast those arms now,’ called Kai. ‘Quick!’

Kai and Jay blasted the beast until its arms had no more fight left in them. Then its wings fell against its body. ‘Wrap it up with the chains, you two,’ Kai said to Robohawk and BC. ‘Then I’ll hit the button on your collar to activate the ray cage, BC. Good job, team,’ said Kai as he activated the ray cage. ‘It’s time to take these beasts back to the Outlands.’

The team flew to the Outlands gate. When they reached it, Kai took out his orb. He sent a message to the BMC. They opened the gate. BC pushed the mutants inside. Then the gate shut tight.

‘Well done, guys,’ said Kai. ‘We made a great team. Thanks Jay. You and Robohawk were excellent battle buddies.’

‘Thanks Captain Kai,’ said Jay. ‘It’s good to have those beasts behind that gate.’

‘I hope they don’t escape again,’ said BC.

‘They won’t,’ said Kai. ‘The BMC told me that before this battle the power went out for a few seconds only.

The gates opened. I guess these two beasts got out. They are behind the gates now. It’s home time for all of us. Earth is safe from mega-mutants now!’
