Long ago beast and man shared one world. Then they began to battle.

After many battles the world was split in two. Beasts were given Beastium. Man was given Earth.

A border-wall was made. It closed the two worlds off.

The beasts tried to get through the border-wall many times. The Border Guards had to stop them. Border Guards were trained to defend the border-wall. Battles won by beasts made beasts stronger. Battles won by guards earned them new battle gear. And they got new upgrades. Then their battle gear could do more.

Five guards now defend the border-wall. Their work is top secret. They battle and learn. One day they will become Border Masters. Just like their dads. But first they must learn and become Border Captains.

Their dads were also Border Guards once. They kept learning until they became Border Masters.

And now then make up the Bordaria Master Command. The BMC. The BMC help the Border Guards during battle. They show them how to defend the wall. They give the Border Guards new battle gear.

The guards must earn their new battle gear. They need to learn from their battles. And from their mistakes.

Kai Masters is a Border Captain. He must work with others and win his leader’s badge. Kai must learn more about the beasts. He cannot fail.

The Outlands was a large beast park. The park was closed off from Beastium by a fence and gates. The BMC created the park so they could learn about the beasts.

Border Guards put the mutant beasts inside the park. They didn’t know then that the Outlands was a BMC research park. Now that Kai Masters is a captain he knows. He also knows that the BMC put a computer chip in each beast’s neck. The chip collects data on the beasts.

Kai Masters must use the beast data to learn more about the beasts. He must use what he learns to battle smarter.

It was early Saturday morning and Kai Masters was in his science lab. He and his robotic dog, BC, had returned from a battle in the mud land late the night before. They had beaten the beast but strange things had happened in Beastium.

‘There were lots of pests in the mud land last night,’ said Kai. ‘Those pests made more pests. But how?’

‘And why didn’t the combo beast upgrade into a mutant when it won a battle?’ asked BC.

‘It should have,’ said Kai. ‘Then when we beat that combo beast, it just crumbled into dust.

We need to test the dust from the combo beast and the pest poo that you brought back from that battle, BC.’

Kai placed some pest poo on a glass tray. He opened the door of the testing unit and put the tray inside. Then he turned on the lab’s computer. ‘The computer says it will take five minutes,’ he said.

‘Let’s grab some breakfast while it is testing the poo.’

Kai and BC took the lift from the science lab to the kitchen. The lift ran right through the middle of the lighthouse where Kai lived. It went from the take-off pad at the very top of the lighthouse to the hidden rooms buried under it. The rooms were top secret and were filled with awesome beast-battling gear.

The lift doors opened and BC ran into the kitchen. ‘I’m starving,’ he said.

‘Me too,’ said Kai as he hit the button on the dog food machine. ‘I’ve ordered you a doggy bag. Bring it with you. I’m going to have a cheese toastie and chocolate milkshake.’

He hit the buttons for his own breakfast.

When his food and drink were ready he grabbed them both.

‘The testing should be finished now,’ said Kai. ‘Come on, BC. Let’s get back to the lab. I want to see what the test shows.

Kai and BC returned to the science lab with their breakfast. Kai took a bite of his toasted sandwich as he watched the computer screen. ‘Perfect timing,’ he said. ‘Only ten seconds to go and the pest-poo test will be done.’

  ‘Here it comes,’ said BC.

Kai read the test data on the screen.

‘New cells,’ said Kai. ‘I don’t like that.’

Kai took the pest poo out of the testing unit and put a glass tray with the beast dust into it. He closed the door and waited.

‘That combo beast had the same unknown new cells in it as the pest poo,’ said Kai.

‘Those pests in the mud land dropped the pest poo,’ said BC. ‘Then more birds were made from it and more birds kept coming.’

‘Did they have the new cells in them too?’ asked Kai. ‘Maybe these new cells let them make clones somehow. We need to know more. We need to go back to the mud land.’

Then the computer screen flashed. It was an alert from the BMC.

‘Check out that big black cloud, BC,’ said Kai staring at the screen.

‘It’s heading over the border wall into Earth!’ said BC.

‘I don’t have a good feeling about this,’ said Kai.

Kai and BC raced back into the lift. ‘Observation Deck,’ Kai said in a loud voice. The lift doors closed and the lift shot up through the middle of the lighthouse.

The lift doors opened and Kai ran onto the deck. ‘The cloud is moving fast!’ he said as he looked at the huge black cloud moving towards them in the sky.

‘Is it a storm?’ asked BC. ‘Is Earth safe?’

  ‘I don’t know,’ said Kai.

‘I’m going to send my orb out to get a sample.’

Kai took his orb from his pocket and hit the orb’s test sample button. Then he hit the button for the orb to fly.

He opened his hand and the orb flew off towards the cloud in the sky.

  Hurry up, orb, thought Kai.

I don’t like this at all.

  Then everything went dark.

‘The cloud is right on top of us now but it is still moving towards the rock land,’ said Kai.

‘Look, here comes your orb,’ said BC.

Kai opened his hand and the orb flew gently into it.

‘Bad news,’ he said to BC.

‘The cloud has the flying toxic jellyfish pests from the mud land in it and they have the new cells as well.’

‘And now they’re on their way to the rock land,’ said BC.

‘We have to go to the rock land instead, BC,’ said Kai. ‘Before that storm cloud does! We need another guard to help. I’ll send Ying Li a message. She’s just been made a Border Captain. She’s perfect to go to the mud land.’

  Then Kai’s orb beeped.

‘It’s a message from the BMC,’ said Kai.

‘They are testing the new cells. They’re calling them C-cells. They think they help make clones of things.

But other things need to be added. We need to find out what.’

‘We’d better get ready then,’ said BC. ‘We need our gear.’

‘The BMC has chosen the Jet Drill for us,’ said Kai. ‘They’ve added a pest spray to the Maxi-2 Heat Blaster. The jet and battle gear are waiting for us in the transport chamber.’

Kai and BC took the lift to the transport chamber.

When the lift reached the bottom floor the doors opened.

‘In you go, BC,’ said Kai. He lifted BC into the Jet Drill. He strapped BC’s seat belt on. Then Kai climbed in beside him.

Kai checked the backseat for the Maxi-2 Heat Blaster and then keyed in the codes for the rock land.

‘Firing up the engines now,’ said Kai. The wall of the transport chamber slid open and the jet shot out the tunnel towards Beastium.

Kai and BC flew over big canyons and rocky cliffs. Toxic, yellow rain was pouring
all over the rock land.

‘The storm cloud beat us here,’ said Kai looking out at the rock land. The rain from the cloud is making pools and puddles everywhere.’

‘Look, the colour of the land is changing,’ said BC. ‘The rain has turned the dusty red and brown land to a weird dark blue.’

‘When the toxic yellow rain mixes with the rock dirt the colour must change,’ said Kai. ‘And I bet that’s not all that the cloud is changing here.’

‘We need to get rid of this cloud,’ said BC.

‘Maybe I can dry it up with the Maxi-2 Heat Blaster,’ said Kai. He grabbed the upgraded gadget from the back seat and then he opened the cockpit.

Then, without warning, a massive swarm of pests flew from the cloud towards Kai and BC.

‘They’re the flying jelly fish that we battled in the mud land last night,’ said BC. And they’re coming straight at us!’

‘Right, said Kai. ‘We’ll worry about drying up the cloud later. I’ll hit the flying toxic jelly fish with the fly spray upgrade.’

‘I’ll fly out and hit them with my eye lasers,’ said BC.

‘Go get ‘em, boy!’ said Kai.

BC took off towards the swarm. Kai took the jet off hover-mode and followed him, ready for battle.

But as Kai moved in closer, he noticed that the pests were dropping poo into the puddles below.

‘BC!’ Kai said. ‘Look down at the pools of water. They’re dropping poo into them and new pests are being made. The pests are making clones! We need to get rid of them fast before they can clone too many for us to handle.’

  Kai sprayed and BC zapped.

‘There’s too many of them!’ called BC. ‘And heaps more pests are coming out of the pools and puddles!’

‘I’ll get the pests with the spray,’ said Kai. ‘You need to stop the pest poo reaching the water.’

Kai sprayed the new pests that were hatching in the puddles. Then BC quickly turned his force-field bubble on. He made it big and long and pulled it over the puddles.

Pest poo landed on BC’s force-field in splats.

‘Good dog, BC!’ Kai called. ‘Stay there! The spray is working but there are so many pests.’

Kai sprayed as fast as he could. Toxic flying jellyfish fell away in groups but more kept coming from inside the cloud.

Kai sprayed at the new swarm and all at once the entire swarm turned to dust. Kai looked around. What just happened? he thought. There’s not a single pest left.

BC turned his force-field off and flew back to the jet.

‘I saw what happened,’ said BC. ‘You hit one pest and then they all went away. I think that was the real pest and, when you hit it, all the clones went away too.’

‘Pests and beasts that can make copies of themselves is a big problem, BC,’ said Kai.

Before Kai could say any more the rock land shook with a massive noise.

The rock land was shaking and rocks were tumbling down from the cliffs.

‘Something’s happening on the other side of those cliffs,’ said BC, his tail wagging madly.

Kai flew above the cliffs and looked down into a valley. The valley was surrounded by tall mountains and it was filled with toxic blue water.

It looked like a bright blue pool. In the centre of the pool was an enormous beast.

‘It’s stomping with its feet and it’s very angry,’ said BC. ‘Is it a clone or a real beast?’

  Kai looked at his watch.

‘It’s a real beast,’ Kai said. ‘My watch tracks the chips the BMC have put into the necks of the beasts and this one has a BMC chip in its neck.’

  Just then Kai’s orb beeped.

‘It’s a message from the BMC telling us that a beast is loose in Beastium,’ said Kai.

‘Looks like we’ve already found it,’ said BC. ‘And it’s one we’ve not battled before.’

Kai took a photo of the beast on his orb. A card popped up on the screen.

  ‘It’s a mega-mutant,’ said Kai.

  ‘In toxic water!’ said BC.

‘Oh no,’ said Kai looking up from his orb. ‘Look, It’s cloning!’

‘Now there are ten beasts!’ said BC. ‘Nine clones and one real beast.’

‘We need help,’ said Kai. He quickly sent Border Captain Ying Li a message on his orb. ‘I’ve told Ying Li to come across from the mud land.’

‘New pests are hatching in the water as well,’ said BC. ‘They’ve got glowing green and red bodies and wings.’

‘And they’re dropping fly poo in to the water and that’s making more pests,’ said Kai. ‘I’m going to see if there’s a border guard that has battled this beast before.’

Kai hit the button for the border guard files on his orb.

Then he tapped on the mega-mutant card. He waited while the orb found a match.

‘This guard is from Africa,’ said Kai as clicked on the name and Jango’s battle file came onto the screen.

‘I’m sending him a text right now,’ said Kai. ‘Ying Li And Akin Jango will be here soon. We need a plan.’

‘Yes,’ said BC. ‘Because there’s another clone now! That makes eleven beasts and maybe more on the way!’

  ‘This is bad,’ said Kai.

‘Ying Li reporting for duty,’ Captain Kai,’ said a voice through the headset speakers.

‘You sure got here fast,’ said Kai. ‘Did you discover anything while you were in the mud land?’

‘Yes,’ answered Li. ‘I think I’ve worked something out. The BMC told me that all beasts that have C-cells all went through the Outlands gates when the power failure happened. So maybe the shock messed with their cells. And I think when C-cells from those beasts mix with toxic water they can clone.’

Then an almighty noise came from the valley below.

Kai, Li, BC and BF watched as the beasts let out a terrible noise. Rocks fell and cliffs collapsed. The whole of the rock land shook.

Ten beasts stomped their feet and roared at the team.

‘You said there were eleven beasts in your message,’ said LI. Where’s the other one?

‘Oh no,’ said Kai looking at his watch. ‘The real beast has gone away.

  ‘Clone attack!’ said BC.

Kai and BC flew out of the valley and over the cliffs.

‘Ying Li and Jango will have those clones under control in no time, BC,’ said Kai. ‘We need to find the real beast before it can clone again.’

‘Yes,’ said BC. ‘We have to beat it before it can put more beast poo in the toxic water.’

‘I’m tracking it on my watch,’ said Kai. ‘It should be on the other side of that mountain range.’

Kai flew the jet towards the range and hovered just above it. ‘There it is,’ he said.

‘It’s even bigger than before!’ said BC.

‘And it is stronger too,’ said Kai looking at his watch. ‘It was only a nine before. I’m calling the other two. We’ll need to join the jets to beat this beast.’ Kai used his orb to send a message to his team. ‘It might be stronger but I know how to beat this beast.’

BC’s tail began to wag. ‘I can hear something,’ he said.

‘What is it?’ asked Kai as he looked out the back window for his team.

‘Toxic water flowing down towards the beast!’ said BC.

‘We’re here,’ said Li. ‘Ten dried out beasts all pinned down and fast asleep.’

‘Well done, team,’ said Kai. ‘We need to join up fast. Triple the drying power and we can battle as one.’

Li and Jango lined up their jets side by side and Kai hovered just above them. Then Kai hit the triple-battle-jet button on the dash and the three jets were joined as one.

‘Here’s the plan,’ said Kai. ‘We all blast super-hot wind from our jets at the water jets and beast wings to dry them up. While we do that, I’ll spray the pests. BC, I want you to fly around the beast’s legs and annoy it. When it raises its foot to stomp on BC, we’ll send Chimp in to fire his banana bombs under its foot.’

‘Won’t we need them to battle the toxic breath and hand attacks?’ asked Jango. ‘They’ll be stronger too, now.’

‘Our super-hot drying wind will blow it all back at the beast,’ answered Kai. ‘BF, you need to be ready to use your hypnotic eyes on it as soon as it falls.’

‘And then I’ll pin it down with a net,’ said Li.

‘Quick,’ shouted BC. ‘The beast is crouching down. It’s going to put poo in the water.’

‘Battle team! Go! Go! Go!’ called Kai.

The triple jet flew straight at the beast blasting three jets of super-hot air. Kai sprayed the pests while BC flew in and out of the beast’s legs.

The beast roared and raised its foot. ‘Now Chimp,’ called Jango.

Banana peels landed right under the beast’s foot just as it lowered its leg to stomp. And down it went.

Li and BF moved quickly. BF put the beast to sleep with her hypnotic eyes and Li pinned it down with the net.

‘Excellent beast-battling work team!’ said Kai.

‘I’ll activate the ray cage, BC.’

‘And then we take it to the Outlands,’ said BC.

The battle team watched as the Outlands gates opened and BC put the mega-mutant inside. ‘We need to dry up this land before we leave,’ said Kai.

So, if a beast has C-cells, it will make clones if its poo mixes with toxic water,’ said Li.

‘Yes,’ said Kai. ‘We must dry up all the water before we leave. We can’t miss a drop.’
